Compelling actor Aidan Gillen is set to star in a biopic of Irish comedian Dave Allen. Exploding onto the screen as Stuart Jones in Manchester gay scene drama
Queer as Folk (Channel 4 UK), being Tommy Carcetti in
The Wire (HBO) and machinating as Petyr Baelish / Littlefinger in
Game of Thrones (HBO), Gillen tends to bring body and soul characterisation to his roles. Dave Allen was lauded and loathed for his comic takedowns, especially of the Church, and was regularly featured in his BBC show with a cigarette and whisky while weaving his comic stories. The biopic is slated for screening in the 2018/19 season, premiering on BBC2 in UK and RTE Ireland.
